Playing hockey for Worcester is a great way to get involved with college sport, whether you are aiming for a blue or just a want little exercise on a Sunday morning. We welcome players of all abilities to join the team and are looking for as many freshers as possible to improve further our chances in both the league and cuppers competitions.
Unlike most other sports in the university, hockey is played in all three terms of the academic year, with league and cuppers matches in Michaelmas and Hilary Terms and the hugely enjoyable mixed cuppers competition in Trinity. Although we don’t take ourselves too seriously at Worcester (with only the occasional training session in addition to our weekly matches), we proved a very competitive force last year, narrowly missing out on promotion to Division 1 on goal difference during the Hilary 2013 season. We also had a fantastic run to the semi finals of mixed cuppers in Trinity Term, which included two rounds being decided by penalty flicks. We hope to build on this success next year, and to continue the social side of the club too.
